BUS 302 WEEK 7 DISCUSSION RESPONSE
I agree with Mark that there are different personality’s and strengths amongst employees, and it is important to find the best use of everyones time. While it is good to have employees focus on their strengths, it is also beneficial to have them get outside of their comfort zone and develop their weaker skills as well. I am a huge advocate of cross training because it makes the employee more versatile and adds value to their skill set. I like how Mark was trying to think of how the landscape of his business was forming and worked to think ahead.
I feel that Mark’s team dynamics are transferable across all generations and fields. He had some key points about team dynamics that could be utilized in any industry. For example, not micromanaging employees and allowing them to work on tasks independently, and allowing each employees to work on a different project in order to efficiently complete them.

PHI 210 WEEK 7 DISCUSSION RESPONSE

This question is one we ask when interviewing candidates.
I am a one of three Supervisors in my department. It seems we are tasked each day with making key decisions or to resolve a problem. At the beginning of each year, our inventory of cases is extremely high. Generally, we can reduce it back to normal levels in about four to six weeks. Over the last three weeks, we have had to determine how best to conquer the work and not burden one sector of our department more than the other. I suggested we try a subset team approach and divide the work. We have three types of cases where the amount of work is extremely high (three times higher than the same time period in 2019). There are about ten different case types. For the three highest case types, the subset team would consist of three to four nurses who focus solely on those cases. I also need to create a subset team of non-nurse staff to assist the nurses. The non-nurse subset consist of two persons to each case type to assist the nurses. Using this concentrated subset team approach has reduced our work significantly. We were able to see a reduction in the number of cases in about seven working days.  We project this year, within eight weeks we will back to normal. I have not yet determined if this will be a long term practice. Our goal is to have everyone cross-trained to do all case types.

PHI 210 WEEK 7
BONUS QUESTION:
For the bonus question this week, in addition to providing a solution to the problem below, after you have posted your response, check the discussions for another student who answered the same question.  Then have a dialogue with the other student as it relates to the decision they made.
Choose only one (1) problem-solving, decision-making scenario.
#1 Imagine you are the teacher who received the complaint from Hans about the unfair critical thinking test.  Why do you need to make a decision about what to do?  And what alternative courses of action are open to you?
#2 Imagine yourself in President Truman’s position as he faced the decision about whether to drop the atom bomb; bearing in mind whatever you know about that event, list as many options as you can which you think you need to be considered (brainstorming could help you).

THERE IS TO BE ANOTHER RESPONSE TO THE BONUS QUESTION THAT I WOULD NEED TO ADD AFTER YOU CHOOSE THE ONE YOU WILL DO #1 OR #2. LET ME KNOW WHICH YOU WILL CHOOSE SO THAT I CAN UPLOAD THE ADDITIONAL RESPONSE.
