Persuasive Speech Assignment 1

Write a persuasive speech outline on one of the following topics:

1)   Should everyone in the United States be required to wear masks in public?

2)   Should a wall be built across the southern border of the United States?

3)  Should the covid vaccine be required of all airline travelers?

Note – You need to take a specific position and not argue both sides. You may discuss the opposing point of view in the limitations section only.

Research your topic using EBSCO and eBrary. Then complete this exercise in this exact order. Label each step.

:  In the first paragraph introduce your topic.  Introduce the topic so as to engage the listener. State your position clearly in one sentence and then underline it. Then give an overview of your main points.

Document your sources. Refer to the of the course for the new APA style. Use at least 7 to ten sources. Include a bibliography. This paper should be approximately 7 pages typed.

 Using the text material, analyze his behavior in one of his speeches.  Identify which speeches you are analyzing. Make conclusions about his nonverbal behavior.

The outline includes substantial content.  The arguments utilize 10-12 sources from scholarly material.  Every argument is supported by outside research from EBSCO.  This material must be documented correctly using the APA format.  The speech must include references.

The outline includes sufficient research to support the argument.  The paper utilizes 8-9 credible sources from EBSCO.

The content is boring and poorly researched.  Presents information from irrelevant sources. Fewer than 8 sources are cited. Student may not have documented within the paper or included references at the end.

Design of Argument

The outline includes at least three major arguments.  The support for the arguments must include logic, emotions, and credibility.  These arguments must be clearly stated and identified with (logic), (emotions), or (credibility)

The outline includes at least three arguments, but one argument may not be strong or may be weakly supported.    The outline may also fail to include a credibility argument, an emotional argument, or a logical argument.

The outline includes fewer than three arguments, two or more of the arguments are weak, or  the speech may fail to include at least two different kinds of arguments.

The student correctly identifies all the credibility, logic, and emotional arguments.
