Thinking about the multitude of small conflicts and covert operations, were these covert regime changes that the CIA were involved in successes? How do you define success? What’s the danger in it?

Things change in the late stages of the Cold War when openly supporting “covert” operations becomes the thing to do. How did the end of the Cold War actually leave the world in more dangerous shape than when it was ongoing? (400words)
