The Congress of Vienna, Revolutions of 1848, the Scramble for Africa, the Paris Peace Conference, and the Holocaust. What were these events and how did they shape the formation of Europe?

You will have the choice of two essay questions. You will write on one prompt from the two given. It is expected that you will use examples from through out the second half of the course, from the readings, videos, and podcasts. This paper should be about the same length as one of your response papers, or between 300 and 400 words. However, students can go over this word count.

1) The period between the French Revolution and World War I has been called the Long Nineteenth Century. However, we could really extend this time to include the Second World War. This is largely due to the continuity of several major political and social events that dominate this 150 year period. Look at three (3) of the following major political or social events: The Congress of Vienna, Revolutions of 1848, the Scramble for Africa, the Paris Peace Conference, and the Holocaust. What were these events and how did they shape the formation of Europe? Remember you must look at three of these political and social events. Be specific and provide plenty of details.

In a short response (a paragraph or two), describe how you believe the history of 2020 will be remembered compared to the other histories we dealt with in this course?
