Antibiotic resistance is a serious problem in medicine today. It’s possible that millions of people will die because they will become ill with an antibiotic-resistant strain of bacteria in the future. So the hunt is on for an an alternative to the traditional antibiotics that have been used since the discovery of Penicillin in 1928. For this discussion, first watch this TED talk:

1. Make an argument as to why or why not you feel that bacteriophages could help save us from the antibiotic resistance crises.
2. Do a search online for other possible alternatives to current antibiotics. (Do not list the bacteriophage therapy you watched about in this talk). In other words, can you find some information about what scientists are studying that might help with the antibiotic resistance crisis? Give citations: Include the full url in your post so that classmates can look at directly the information you found to make their comments and replies.
