Health Care Issue Diet & Exercise affecting pediatric health
Not all serious health care issues are ones that easily attract government attention. The challenge is to describe the issue in ways that prompt lawmakers to take action. “Framing” refers to the manner in which an issue is presented. Framing will influence engagement and buy-in of stakeholders, and quite likely the outcome of our efforts. Nurses must use a scholarly approach to inform their work in crafting meaningful health policy documents.
Choose one healthcare issue that is relevant to your practice/community now:
Diet & Exercise – pediatric hospital many children eat an unhealthy unbalanced diet consisting of fast food and playing video games and/or social media
Write a very brief, two-page response that presents the problem by addressing the following five questions:
1. What is the scope, duration, and history – whom does it affect?
2. What data is available to describe the issue and its ramifications?
3. What are the gaps in existing data?
4. What types of additional research might be useful?
5. What ethical issues should be considered?
Please use each question to outline each paragraph that answers the question clearly.
• A minimum of two scholarly references with at least 1 from assigned readings Chapter 1-4 Health care delivery in the United States Knickman & Kovner and 1 from an outside reference should be used. (A current reference from 2013- 2018)
• Review APA for the correct way to cite a text book reference with edited chapters. Every time Knickman & Kovner is cited, make it clear where this information was found with page number. Each chapter in the book has editors that should be cited so that the reader knows where to find the information. It is important so that the authors are given appropriate credit for their words.
