Activity #9: Planning for Employment Law Issues Due Sun., 4/10 Name:

Set Up: Ch. 9 addresses many facets of Employment Law and potential issues. Good to be aware of these before you’re in an official leadership position in which you can be sued.

For this activity,

1) Review the various aspects of Employment Law covered in the text in the chart below (have added a few).

2) Choose your TOP TEN that you feel could lead to a lawsuit in your world (The assumption is that you will be in a leadership position.) Perhaps your seeing or being the victim of discrimination will inform your decisions here.

3) Indicate how this general issue would most likely become a lawsuit in your world.

4) Provide one or more SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic & timely) suggestions on how you, your department, institution or company could ensure due process and avoid a lawsuit in this area. Be proactive!

5) Want to earn up to 20 bonus points? Select any other of the areas and address as above—2 bonus points apiece.
